He was descended from Sir Ellis Hicks, who was knighted by Edward the Black Prince in 1356. He was a man of education and active in the affaris of the colony until his death 24 March 1647. Margaret (Winslow) Hicks and her four children followed her husband to America in the Anne in 1623. Her son Samuel married Lydia, d/o John Doane of Eastham. Robert Hicks died at Plymouth, MA 24 March 1647...
